Jo Young

Principal physiotherapist

Jo has been a part of the local community providing physio services for over 15 years. She trained in Otago as an undergraduate then returned to complete a post graduate diploma in manipulative physiotherapy. She is passionate about musculoskeletal physiotherapy, in particular getting people back doing what they love, be it work, sports, or just everyday life.

This has led to a long standing interest in the art of keeping people moving, a love of working with problems and identifying why they may have occurred and how they can be prevented. In addition to her hands-on work, Jo runs small pilates classes to bridge the gap between rehab and full function.

Jo is also a proud volunteer at Thumbs Up helping with weekly exercise classes.

In her spare time (between work and running after family) Jo can be found training at Seido karate or the gym, and if weather permits, skiing!

Nicole graduated from Otago University School of Physiotherapy in 2014 and has been working at Petone physio since April 2015. She is currently completing her final year of the NZMPA certificate in orthopaedic manual therapy and is interested in pursuing further education in Mulligans and McKenzie techniques.

Nicole is keen on sport and has a particular interest in swimming and cricket, and has swum competively at a national level. This interest in sports transfers through into a keen interest and passion for musculoskeletal rehab, sport injuries and sport specific rehab. This has also led her to being the Team Physio for Taita Districts Cricket Club and Avalon Rugby Club.
